Polish Tradition of Blessing the Easter Food

In Poland on Holy Saturday, the parishioners take a basket of food to church to be blessed by the Parish Priest.

The most important items are the eggs, but in their baskets you will also find bread, ham, sausage, horseradish, cake and sweets chosen by the children.

The eggs are painted in many different colours and patterns.

The blessed food is then eaten on Easter Sunday morning.
